What is the Duo Kit?

The Nokori Duo Kit combines two essential scar care products designed to promote optimal healing after surgery — the Scar Balm nourishes and replenishes, while the Scar Tape shields and compresses.

The two work closely together to support recovery and reduce the risk of abnormal scarring. Here are answers to three of our most common questions:

1. How do I use both products together for the best results?

For the Duo Kit to work effectively, it's important to alternate between the Scar Balm and Scar Tape in a consistent routine. Each product plays a unique role in your scar care — see our routine outlines below for guidance.

2. When should I start using the Duo Kit?

The Duo Kit should only be introduced after your surgical dressings and tape have been removed, and your incisions have fully healed. This typically means 2+ weeks post-surgery for small incisions and 6–8 weeks for larger ones. Always check with your surgeon.

3. How long should I keep using both products?

Scars take 12 to 24 months to fully mature, which means you can use the products for as long as they feel helpful. For the best results, we recommend using both products for a minimum of 3 months.

The Scar Balm ‘The Food’

Formulated using 100% natural bio-active extracts, the Scar Balm is designed to reduce inflammation and promote cell regeneration through scar massage.

What the Scar Balm does:

  1. Nourishes and hydrates — Massaging the balm into your scar helps hydrate, soothe irritation and itchiness, and create an optimal healing environment
  2. Reduces inflammation and promotes regeneration — Anti-inflammatory ingredients calm the skin while supporting cellular repair, helping to improve scar texture and appearance over time

How to use the Scar Balm

The Scar Balm is specifically designed for scar massage and seamlessly integrates into your self-care routine

Before you begin:

  • Your incisions must be fully healed and stable
  • Do not massage an unsealed scar or a scab
  • If unsure, check with your medical team to confirm your scar is ready for massage
  • Massaging too early can reopen the scar or increase the risk of infection. Always wait until your scar is completely sealed and stable

To apply:

  • Use once or twice daily
  • Place a small amount onto your fingertip — just enough to cover the entire scar with a thin layer (a little goes a long way)
  • Start gently massaging the balm into the scarred area using steady motions to move the scar and skin, rather than just rubbing the surface
  • Apply firm but gentle pressure — you should see the skin whiten slightly, indicating you're moving the scar tissue itself
  • Work your way across the entire scar and surrounding area for 3 to 5 minutes

Recommended duration:

  • Massage for a minimum of 12 weeks
  • For best results, continue to massage for up to 12 months

The Scar Tape ‘The Shield’

Made from 100% medical-grade silicone, the Scar Tape is designed to protect, flatten and soften new and old surgical scars.

What the Scar Tape does:

  1. Protects and compresses — Acts as a protective barrier and applies gentle compression to minimise raised scar tissue.
  2. Maintains optimal moisture — Balances moisture levels by replicating the occlusion properties of the top layer of skin, while still allowing the skin to breathe. This helps reduce scarring and promote smoother skin texture.

How to use the Scar Tape

The Scar Tape is atraumatic and should adapt smoothly to body contours.

Application:

  • Ensure the skin is clean and dry
  • If combining with the Scar Balm, wait at least 6 hours for it to absorb into the skin
  • Tear or cut the tape to the desired size and shape
  • Remove the protective liner and apply the tape along the scar line, without stretching
  • Leave the tape on for 1–7 days, following either the daily or weekly routine (see alternating routines for more details)
  • If needed, remove and reposition or store carefully for later use (beware of hairs, dust, and other irritants)
  • Use for a minimum of 12 weeks, and up to 12 months

❗ Skin Sensitivity ❗

Mild skin reactions to adhesives can happen. If so, shorten the use interval or pause entirely and focus on using the Scar Balm only.

How to alternate between the Balm & Tape

For optimal results, we recommend alternating between the Scar Tape and Scar Balm at regular intervals. For example, use the Scar Tape during the day and the Scar Balm at night, or alternate between several days of using the tape and several days of using the balm.

Everyone’s routine will vary slightly — here are the two routines our patients have found most effective.

Routine 1 — The Daily Routine (rotation every 12 hours)

This short-interval routine switches products within a 12-hour cycle — recommended for those with known skin sensitivities.

  1. Day — Apply the tape to leverage its protective benefits when your skin is more exposed to sunlight, external irritants, and friction from clothing.
  2. Night — After removing the tape, apply the Scar Balm to repair and hydrate the skin overnight, when it best absorbs nutrients.

Routine 2 — The Weekly Routine (rotation every 1 to 7 days)

This long-interval routine switches products every 1–7 days, based on skin sensitivity — for example, a week-on/week-off or weekday/weekend cycle.

  1. Apply the tape and leave it on for as long as it remains comfortable — for example, Monday to Friday in a weekday routine (maximum 7 days).
  2. Then give your skin a break: remove the tape and massage the Scar Balm into your scar once or twice daily until you’re ready to reapply — for example, over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday)

Importantmake sure not to apply the tape directly over the balm it won’t stick properly. The balm needs time to fully absorb into the skin to avoid interfering with the tape’s adhesive properties and ensure both products perform as they should.

If you experience any irritation or adverse reaction, stop using the product immediately and consult your doctor. And if you have any questions or concerns about your scar or the use of our products, don't hesitate to reach out. We're always here to help.
