The Nokori Pre & Post Procedure Kit is designed to guide you through the first 12 weeks of your pre and post-surgical journey.
Each product plays a unique role at a different stage — please follow the instructions below carefully for the best results.
Before Your Procedure
Start using the Probiotic Wash and Bioactive Cream up to one week before surgery:
The Probiotic Wash:
Use once daily in the shower to cleanse the treatment area and surrounding skin.
- Once a day, gently massage one pump into the treated area and surrounding skin
- Avoid using on broken skin or open wounds, as this may cause irritation or discomfort
- If showering is uncomfortable post-surgery, apply the wash to a warm flannel and gently cleanse the area and exposed surrounding skin
The Bioactive Cream:
Apply once daily after showering to help strengthen and hydrate the skin.
- Once a day, after your shower, gently massage one pump into the skin surrounding the treated area
- While your incisions heal, apply around your tape and bandages to nourish the surrounding skin
- Avoid applying to broken skin or wounds, as the product may cause irritation or discomfort
- If you break out in pimples, you’re using too much. And you’ll want to savour it — we promise!
After Your Procedure
Once your surgical dressings and tape have been removed — and your incisions are fully healed — you can introduce the Scar Balm and Scar Tape (typically 2+ weeks for small incisions or 6–8 weeks for larger ones). Always confirm with your surgeon before beginning.
The Scar Balm:
Use once or twice daily to massage the scar.
Before you begin:
- Your incisions must be fully healed and stable
- Do not massage an unsealed scar or a scab
- If unsure, check with your medical team to confirm your scar is ready for massage
Massaging too early can reopen the scar or increase the risk of infection. Always wait until your scar is completely sealed and stable.
How to apply?
- Use once or twice daily
- Place a small amount onto your fingertip — just enough to cover the entire scar with a thin layer (a little goes a long way)
- Start gently massaging the balm into the scarred area using steady motions to move the scar and skin, rather than just rubbing the surface
- Apply firm but gentle pressure — you should see the skin whiten slightly, indicating you're moving the scar tissue itself
- Work your way across the entire scar and surrounding area for 3 to 5 minutes
Recommended duration:
- Massage for a minimum of 12 weeks
- For best results, continue to massage for up to 12 months
The scar Tape:
The Scar Tape is atraumatic and should adapt smoothly to body contours.
Application:
- Ensure the skin is clean and dry
- If combining with the Scar Balm, wait at least 6 hours for it to absorb into the skin
- Tear or cut the tape to the desired size and shape
- Remove the protective liner and apply the tape along the scar line, without stretching
- Leave the tape on for 1–7 days, following either the daily or weekly routine (see alternating routines for more details)
- If needed, remove and reposition or store carefully for later use (beware of hairs, dust, and other irritants)
- Use for a minimum of 12 weeks, and up to 12 months
❗ Skin Sensitivity ❗
Mild skin reactions to adhesives can happen. If so, shorten the use interval or pause entirely and focus on using the Scar Balm only.
Alternate between the Balm & Tape:
For optimal results, we recommend alternating between the Scar Tape and Scar Balm at regular intervals. For example, use the Scar Tape during the day and the Scar Balm at night, or alternate between several days of using the tape and several days of using the balm.
Everyone’s routine will vary slightly — here are the two routines our patients have found most effective.
Routine 1 — The Daily Routine (rotation every 12 hours)
This short-interval routine switches products within a 12-hour cycle — recommended for those with known skin sensitivities.
- Day — Apply the tape to leverage its protective benefits when your skin is more exposed to sunlight, external irritants, and friction from clothing.
- Night — After removing the tape, apply the Scar Balm to nourish and hydrate the skin overnight, when it best absorbs nutrients.
Routine 2 — The Weekly Routine (rotation every 1–7 days)
This long-interval routine switches products every 1–7 days, based on skin sensitivity — for example, a week-on/week-off or weekday/weekend cycle.
- Apply the tape and leave it on for as long as it remains comfortable — for example, Monday to Friday in a weekday routine (maximum 7 days).
- Then give your skin a break: remove the tape and massage the Scar Balm into your scar once or twice daily until you’re ready to reapply — for example, over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Important: make sure not to apply the tape directly over the balm — it won’t stick properly. The balm needs time to fully absorb into the skin to avoid interfering with the tape’s adhesive properties and ensure both products perform as they should.
If you experience any irritation or adverse reaction, stop using the product immediately and consult your doctor. And if you have any questions or concerns about your scar or the use of our products, don't hesitate to reach out. We're always here to help.
Important — Nokori includes both therapeutic goods (such as silicone Scar Tape) and cosmetic skin-care products.
