Scar Tape

The Nokori Scar Tape is a thin, atraumatic, 100% medical-grade silicone dressing — also referred to as a Scar Sheet — designed to help flatten and soften new and old surgical or injury-related scars. It is indicated to support optimal scarring and minimise the risk of hypertrophic or keloid scars.

By providing gentle compression and maintaining optimal moisture levels, it supports the natural healing process, helps prevent scars from becoming raised or thickened, and promotes a smoother skin texture.

Characteristics:

2. Atraumatic → Minimises pain and trauma during application and removal, making it ideal for sensitive skin
3. Conformable → Conforms well to body contours for effortless application, regardless of the location of the scar
4. Splash-Proof → Can be worn during light showering or light swimming without losing its protective benefits
5. UV Protection → Offers some degree of protection from UV exposure, but we recommend using SPF 50 sunscreen and protective clothing for the best sun defence

The tape forms a breathable, protective barrier that helps regulate collagen, minimise scar thickening, and support healing.

After your procedure:

• Helps to protect & compress — The tape acts as a protective barrier and applies gentle compression to help reduce the risk of raised or thickened scar tissue.
• Helps to maintain optimal hydration — The tape balances moisture levels by replicating the occlusive properties of the skin’s outer layer while still allowing the skin to breathe. This supports a smoother scar texture and helps minimise scarring.

When to start the Scar Tape:

We recommend using the Scar Tape after surgery — once the dressings and surgical tape have been removed and the skin incisions have entirely healed. This can range from 2+ weeks after surgery for small incisions to 6–8 weeks for larger ones.

If you're unsure, consult your medical team during your post-operative appointment for guidance on when to start using the Scar Tape.

How to use the Scar Tape:

The Scar Tape is atraumatic and should adapt smoothly to body contours.

Application:

• Ensure the skin is clean and dry
• If combining with the Scar Balm, wait at least 6 hours for it to absorb into the skin
• Tear or cut the tape to the desired size and shape
• Remove the protective liner and apply the tape along the scar line, without stretching
• Leave the tape on for 1–7 days, following either the daily or weekly routine (see alternating routines for more details)
• If needed, remove and reposition or store carefully for later use (beware of hairs, dust, and other irritants)
• Use for a minimum of 12 weeks, and up to 12 months
